En el caso del entrenamiento funcional grupal, la actividad se ajusta de forma grupal a unos entrenamientos en función de las necesidades físicas y teniendo en cuenta los objetivos personales del alumno. Dedicado a la mejora, llevando una clase dinámica, donde se trabaja la estabilidad, flexibilidad, movilidad y fuerza de forma proporcional. Las entrevistas previas de los alumnos son cruciales. Los entrenadores deberán conocer las enfermedades y lesiones de todos los alumnos con el fin de que sea el propio entrenador, quien valore, aconseje y adecue la actividad al alumno. Estas clases tratan de implantar una rutina de entrenamiento, para el trabajo de todo el sistema músculo-esquelético de forma adecuada.
